Symbolically for Jaipur & Jodhpur, you can go on a short trip to the world-famous Pink & Blue City in our restaurant in Mainz. Jodhpur was once the capital of the Rajput and later princely state of Marwar. Jodhpur is also known as the “Blue City” because of the colour of its houses. Traditionally, the colour blue marked the affiliation of the inhabitants to the caste of Brahmins, but today also non-Brahmins have adopted this custom. Jaipur is today the capital of Rajasthan and is also called “Pink City” because of the uniformly pink colour of the buildings in the old town quarter. It was painted in 1876 in preparation for the visit of Crown Prince Albert Edward, Prince of Wales. Pink is Rajasthan’s traditional colour of hospitality.
